Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 12, 2026
Balls Up ("the app", "we", "us") is a global mobile game where players compete for their country in a worldwide ranking. We care about your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what data we collect, why, and your rights.
1. Data we collect
Balls Up is designed to minimize personal data collection.
- Anonymous account ID: Firebase Auth assigns each device an anonymous user ID. We never link this to your real name, email, phone or other personal identifiers.
- Nickname: a public display name you choose freely. We don't validate that it's your real name — pick anything that follows our community rules.
- Selected country: which nation you chose to play for. Stored as an ISO 3166-1 code.
- Game scores: total points, best score, number of games played, achievements unlocked. Aggregated into nation/global rankings.
- Cosmetic skin loadout: which skins you unlocked and equipped.
- Analytics events via Firebase Analytics: anonymized event names like "game_started", "game_ended", "score_shared", with no personal identifiers. Used to improve the game.
- Device info: device model, OS version, app version, language preference — collected by Firebase SDK for crash reports and analytics. Never sold or shared.
We do NOT collect: your name, email, phone, address, contacts, photos, location, biometric data, browsing history, or advertising identifiers (IDFA).
2. How we use your data
- Compute global rankings (by nation, by player, by event).
- Persist your progress across app sessions and devices using your anonymous ID.
- Diagnose crashes and improve performance.
- Tailor seasonal events (e.g., Nations Cup 2026 themes) via Firebase Remote Config.
3. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. The only third parties processing your data are:
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Remote Config, Cloud Functions, Hosting). Data is stored in multi-region datacenters (nam5: USA).
- Apple (App Store, TestFlight): standard iOS app distribution and crash reporting.
4. Data retention
Score history, nickname, and progress are retained as long as you keep the app installed. If you delete the app and uninstall it, your anonymous ID becomes orphaned and inaccessible — but documents may persist in our database until manual cleanup.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing contact@ballsup.app. We respond within 30 days.
5. Your rights (GDPR / LGPD / CCPA)
- Access: ask us what data we hold about your anonymous ID.
- Rectification: change your nickname or selected nation directly in-app.
- Erasure: request deletion via email.
- Portability: request a JSON export of your profile and scores.
- Object: opt out of analytics in app Settings.
6. Children
Balls Up is intended for users 13+ (or the legal age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or by email if you've contacted us. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when changes were made.
